Jeetendra Booked For Sexual Assault

Veteran actor Jeetendra, 75, a well-known name in the Hindi film industry, is also a film producer and has daughter Ekta and son Tusshar with wife Shobhaa. The noted actor has been booked by the Shimla police on charges of molestation on his cousin’s complaint.


She has filed a two-page complaint on February 7 alleging that the actor assaulted her sexually 47 years ago in 1971 when they both were staying in a hotel in the town. At that time the actor was 28 years old and the complainant was 18.

An FIR under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Chotta Shimla police station. After her email, SP got in touch with the complainant, who later also sent a written complaint to support her version. Section 354 of the IPC deals with the offence of “outraging modesty” of a woman and carries a maximum punishment of two years’ imprisonment.

According to latest reports, the complainant has to record her statement before a magistrate and has been asked to provide any evidence of her allegations against the actor to prove her testimony. Till now the woman has neither provided them with the name of the hotel nor offered any proof of her stay there.

Jeetendra’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee rubbished the allegations as “baseless and ridiculous”. He also said the charges cannot be entertained by any court of law or law enforcement agencies after a span of almost 50 years.
