Low-cost ‘Bikini Airline’ All Set To Start Operations In India

Vietjet, the low-cost Vietnam airline, commonly known as “Bikini Airline” has unveiled a new route from Vietnam to India. The air-hostesses in these airlines dress up in swimwear and bikinis, dance for passengers midway through the flight. The operations of this airline would start between the months of July to August in this year itself. This is surely a new way of providing its passengers with a pleasant journey with a team of hot flight attendants.

Bikini airline has gained immense popularity due to its uniform. The flights would operate between New Delhi and Ho Chi Minh City. The frequency of these flights would be around 4 times per week.

Vietjet was launched in November 2007 in Vietnam by a billionaire woman entrepreneur Nguyen Thanh Ha. The privately-owned airline rose to fame in 2011 when its ad campaigns featured flight attendants dressed in bikinis. Overnight, its image changed from a low-cost carrier to “bikini” airline. The crew of female attendants wearing a bikini is available only on some special flights. VietJet Air serves 23 domestic and 10 international destinations.

The airline has been penalized by the Vietnamese authorities because the sexy show had been staged without gaining permission from the aviation authorities.

Despite the fine of US$960 in 2012, the airline hasn’t seen a decline, in fact, according to the BBC, the airline has seen a 20% increase in ticket sales in 2017. The market value of Vietjet in 2017 crossed that of Vietnam’s national carrier Vietnam Airlines, and that too, only a week after its listing on the bourses.
