Bollywood icon Sridevi’s final rites were performed on Wednesday, 28 February in Mumbai. The actress was cremated with state honours. Boney Kapoor issued an emotional statement using Sridevi’s account on Twitter soon after the funeral. Here’s an excerpt from his letter – ” Losing a friend, wife and mother of two young daughters is a loss inexplicable in words. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers and all of you countless fans of my Sridevi who have stood by us like rocks. I am blessed to have the support and love of Arjun and Anshula, who have been such pillars of strength for myself, Khushi and Janhvi. Together, as a family, we have tried to face this unbearable loss,”
” For his beloved Sridevi, he wrote, “To the world she was their Chandni… the actor par excellence… their Sridevi… but to me she was my love, my friend, mother to our girls… my partner. To our daughters, she was their everything… their life. She was the axis around which our family ran.”

Anil Kapoor also shared a statement on behalf of Kapoor family on social media on Wednesday.”The past few days have been trying times for us as a family. Today, particularly, has been one of the hardest. We laid to rest a beautiful soul who has gone too soon. She leaves behind a legacy that is unique. Her talent was undeniable, her beauty unmatched and her ability to connect with the audience was legendary. Sri had the same connect with her family as well,” is an excerpt from the statement, posted on Twitter by Sridevi’s brother-in-law Anil Kapoor on behalf of Kapoor, Ayappan and Marwah family.

In a career span of over 50 years, Sridevi had made around 300 films in several languages. Her best known Hindi films are Sadma, Mr India, Himmatwala, Chaal Baaz, Mr India and English Vinglish. Her last film was MOM and Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero will see Sridevi in a cameo.
Sridevi married filmmaker Boney Kapoor in 1996. Janhvi and Khushi are their daughters. Arjun and Anshula are Boney Kapoor’s children with his first wife Mona, who died in 2012. Sridevi is survived by husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Janhvi and Khushi.
